We’re a high energy, floor filling band of close friends and professional musicians from the north west. We pride ourselves on delivering unforgettable performances for weddings and function events night after night all across the UK.

As our incredible frontman, Chris is the centrepiece of our show. He exudes charm and charisma on stage with the voice to back it up. His unforgettable tone and rich embellishments make hearts melt and dancefloors erupt. He’s a lifelong performer and has spring-boarded from humble beginnings at Manchester's Royal Northern College of Music to becoming one of the most in demand male vocalists in the North West.

Rabin’s stylish approach of blending RnB influences with modern drumming techniques is one of the most important foundations of our band. His power to get people moving to almost anything cannot be stressed enough. His ear for vocal harmony is unmatched, and his silky smooth vocals are a perfect compliment to Chris. We just can’t do without. Also hailing from RNCM, Rabin has toured internationally with multiple projects for years but we have the privilege of saying he considers The Upstarts his home.
Locking in alongside Rabin with joy and mischief is our friend and bassist Rob. From the first moment we played together, we were drawn to his incredible ability to groove and uplift the feel of our band. Rob has perhaps the most varied musical skillset amongst us all. After graduating from the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts he’s gone from strength to strength, playing alongside theatre acts and original artists domestically and internationally. His knack for elevating the music surrounding him is irreplaceable, and gig after gig we’re reminded of how asking him to join us was the best decision we could’ve made.
And finally, the man we turn to when we need a guitar played or problem solved. Jak emerged from a life of production and studio engineering to take the stage with guitar in hand. Moving from live rooms and vintage mixing consoles to long drives, airport waiting rooms, and howling guitar tone, he’s definitely made the right decision. From the moment he switched lanes Jak quickly garnered great reputation as a guitarist in the North West, and has played alongside incredible acts all across the northern hemisphere as a result. We don't know what we'd do without him.
Our team has been together for years, and every year we take our band to a whole new level. Over the last few years we’ve also developed our extended lineup to really take The Upstarts to new heights. Having gigged with hundreds of performers, we’ve put together a team of trusted players that make our band soar. With keys, additional vocalists and saxophone, there is no stopping us. Once you hear us, you understand why we’d gig as a seven piece every night if we could.
